My family is proud to be Lifelong Friends of the Island School
My family regularly contributes to the Island School Trust and is proud to be named Lifelong Friends of Island School.
The Island School Trust supports various needs of the school, teachers, and students, in a wide range of activities such as funding for student activities, teacher initiative, facility enhancement projects, and PTA events.
Separately, my family makes annual donations to the Nicola and Kenneth Bursaries, a charity at ESF that was started in 1985, to help financially challenged children not in the ESF school system to access quality education. The charity makes awards to talented local students who need financial aid to support their education.
My family is named Ambassador Of Love by Project Hope and One Foundation for improving access to education
Since I have memories, I have joined my family’s tradition of contributing to charitable activities. One program I support with my family every year is Flowers in the Mountain, launched in connection with One Foundation and the United Disaster Rescue Network of Shan’Xi.
Here I help raise funds to purchase books, winter clothes, stationaries and necessities for under-privileged children in rural arears of Shan’Xi, near the Capital City of the ancient Qin Dynasty (221 BC). My family also takes on one-to-one sponsorships for two students, helping them complete high school and hopefully college as well. Every year, we receive warm letters and photos from the children we support, many are my age. We feel grateful to bring happiness and support their education.
This program:
- supports the needs of children in rural villages whose parents are mostly migrant workers working in distance cities or rural farmers with income below the poverty line
- Organizes volunteers to visit and teach in rural schools
- Provides financial support for target students through one-to-one matching, so children from low-income families can continue schooling
I help support local community through J Life Foundation
J Life Foundation is a local NGO supporting low-income families in Sham Shui Po, the poorest areas in Hong Kong, one of the most expensive cities in the World.
I worked with a team of volunteers to pack rice into 2kg bags and deliver to local families before the Lunar New Year, one of the most celebrated holidays in Hong Kong.
The Foundation’s initiatives help raise awareness of the needs and challenges faced by low-income residents, many of them are women, elderlies, new immigrants who live in poor conditions in sub-divided flats. With love, there is hope.
My sister now joins me in volunteering…
Box of Hope is an annual charity project aimed at providing useful/educational gifts to underprivileged children in Hong Kong and Asia during Christmas.
My family participates annually at different corporate partners and schools by sending boxes of gifts in connection with the charity.
My little sister has also become an enthusiastic volunteer.
